How much is a quality education worth?
A quarter of a billion dollars?
Honest answer is, they can't tell you because they never have enough money and they still aren't hitting the metrics of success.
With an annual budget of nearly $40,000,000 they didn't have a plan to keep what is currently in place updated and functional and they haven't planned for or budgeted funds to keep up what is being proposed.
A better solution with a smaller price tag needs to be evaluated and proposed with OPTIONS for NEEDS and wants clearly identified against the core mission of educational readiness for students. Why do the tax payers have to fund the wants of a few and burden the pocketbooks of the many?
We need to hold Madison as accountable as our local officials. The funding formula for education is broken and favors districts that are already over funded and under performing.
With declining enrollment this $261,200,000 is a ridiculous project, this equates to ~$470.00 per square foot!!
Inflation has hit the average district homeowner hard and now is not the time to increase the burden on those trying to make ends meet. This referendum impacts our seniors on fixed incomes hardest and could be the straw that would force them out of their home.
Due to inflationary housing prices the average home value in the district is approaching nearly $1,000,000. The unrealized gain in value (unless sold) will see an impact on your property taxes by nearly an additional $2,000.00 per year for the average home!!
